PAPPU Insights – The Data-Driven Supply Chain (Week 2/5)

The carbon footprint of manufacturing: Hybrid vs. Wood.

Sustainability begins on the factory floor. The raw material supply and manufacturing stages determine the initial environmental debt of any product before it even hits the road.

Data shows that producing the required volume for 100 usage cycles yields a clear victory for advanced material design:

  •       Climate Change impact drops from 2.09E+01 kg CO₂ eq. for wood down to just 2.21E+00 kg CO₂ eq. for the PAPPU Hybrid Pallet.
  •       Fossil resource consumption is significantly lowered, requiring only 2.20E+02 MJ for the hybrid versus 3.43E+02 MJ for traditional wooden alternatives.
  •       Water use is cut exponentially, dropping from 5.18E+00 m³ down to 8.68E-01 m³.

Designing for durability allows companies to drastically mitigate environmental impacts right at the source.

In the next part, we will move onto the transport phase, where tare weight becomes the ultimate deciding factor.
